Helping strangers has always been considered as a treasured virtue of mankind. We need help from others throughout our life, whenever we travel to other places or stay at home. On the other hand, helping others can make us happy. We feel great joy when we are trusted, needed and able to give a hand.

However, some people are cautious when it comes to helping strangers. They say that helping others involves risks of getting hurt or cheated. Lending a hand to a stranger often puts us in a vulnerable position for it means trusting someone we do not even know. Moreover, there are times when we have physical limitations. For instance, we can’t swim but a girl is drowning, what should we do? If we are blind to that limitation, giving a hand would conversely take our life.

More and more green foods are making their appearance on the market and more and morepeople are becoming conscious of environmental protection.However, there still exist quite a few difficulties in the further promotion of green consumption. On the one hand, many people are still not quite clear of the advantages of green foods. On the other hand, due to high profits, many fake green foods are found in the market. Moreover, many consumers don’t want to pay extra money for green foods.There may be several ways to solve these problems. Firstly, the government should supervise the good quality strictly to protect consumers’ interests. Secondly, the conception of green consumption should be further promoted and emphasized. Thirdly, the government should work together with manufacturers to make the price more reasonable.

三、Starting Career in a Big City or a Small Town?

Starting Career in a Big City or a Small Town?

As regards where to start career, there has been a heated discussion among college students. Graduates who prefer to stay in big cities after graduation believe that big cities mean more opportunities to see the big world and more space for career development.

By contrast, others are willing to start career in small towns. According to a recent survey conducted by China Daily, a high proportion of college graduates as high as 58. 3 percent want to have a quieter and less competitive life. In addition, by working in small towns, they can easily get the management's attention and may win promotion more easily.

As far as I am concerned, I prefer to start career in a big city like Beijing where I can meet people from different places and cultures. I will learn from them what I can not get from textbooks.

四、My View on 'Clearing Our Plates'

1. 经济发展了，中国铺张浪费恶习蔓延；

2. 有识之士倡导“光盘行动”；

With the rapid development of our national economy and the rapid increase in our wealth, some people in China have developed a very bad habit of extravagance and waste. To parade their wealth, they tend to order much more food than they really need when they invite their friends to dinner in restaurants, in which case much of the food they order is left over and dumped into the dustbin.

To choke the spread of such unhealthy practice, some people with breadth of vision have called on us to take an active part in the campaign of 'Clearing Our Plates'. Answering their call, nearly 750 restaurants in Beijing have joined in the “clear our plate” campaign against wasting food by offering smaller dishes. Many people have also changed their bad habit of ordering more food than they need. Even when they unintentionally order more food than they really need, they will ask the waitress or waiter to pack the remains of their food and take them home for the next meal.

As far as I am concerned, I strongly object to the bad practice of extravagance and waste. I firmly support the 'clear our plate' campaign and will try my best to practice clearing our plate in every possible way. We have to bear in mind the fact that ours is still a developing country, where there are still quite a few poor people living in poverty. Clearing our plates should be made a basic principle that we have to pursue for ever.
